Tachograph in Odoo: who can drive, and what went wrong.
Upload the driver card and vehicle unit downloads and Odoo shows each infringement of Regulation (EC) 561/2006 with its article, the driving time each driver has left and when the next download is due. All inside your Odoo, with no external service.

The problem
The files get downloaded. Nobody reads them.
Most transport offices download driver cards and vehicle units because the law says so. Then the files sit in a folder or in the card reader's web portal, and infringements surface when an inspection or a fine arrives, months too late to talk to the driver about it.
Meanwhile, to know whether a driver can take one more job this week, someone in the planning office adds up hours by hand.
What it does
What the tachograph app does
Infringements with their article
Measured against allowed time, the article of 561/2006 and the severity. Very serious ones create an activity for the tachograph manager.
No false infringements
Takes into account what the card records: ferry and train crossings, out-of-scope periods, multi-manning and the two reduced weekly rests abroad.
Driving time left
Before the next break, today, this week and in two weeks, plus the 10-hour days and reduced rests each driver has left.
What happened in the truck
From the vehicle unit: driving without a card, over speeding with the driver, card inserted while driving, power interruptions and security breach attempts.
Signature checked
The digital signature of every file is checked against the official EU root certificates: valid, modified or incomplete.
Download reminders
A reminder before the 28 days of the card or the 90 days of the vehicle unit run out. Files can arrive by email or straight from your remote download service.
A report to sign
Driver activity report in PDF with a 24-hour bar per day, kilometres, countries, vehicles and infringements, sent to each driver every month if you want.

With Geotab or Webfleet, no uploads
If your trucks already carry a telematics box, downloads and live driving times can arrive on their own. These are separate apps installed next to the tachograph.
Tachograph + Geotab: automatic downloads and live driving times
Every hour, the .ddd files Geotab downloads remotely are read as if you had uploaded them, never the same file twice. Every 15 minutes, the driving time each driver has left, with an alert when less than 30 minutes remain. Needs Geotab's remote download in the vehicles.

Tachograph + Webfleet: live driving times
The remaining driving times Webfleet calculates every 15 minutes, next to the figures of the last card download, with the same alert. Needs the Remaining Driving Times feature (or Tachograph Manager Plus / TachoShare Plus) in Webfleet.
No surprises
What it does not do
- It does not download the card or the tachograph by itself. Keep downloading with your card reader, company card or remote download service; the app reads the files. With Geotab, they arrive on their own.
- It is not a legal analysis. Article 12 exceptions (unforeseen events) cannot be read from the card: you mark the infringement as justified and note the reason.
- Driving time left is a guide. The legal reference is still the tachograph.
- Periods without a card count as rest, because the card says nothing else.
- The signature check of vehicle units from the newest (generation 2) tachographs has not been tried yet with a real download.

Drop it into the Odoo you already run
Odoo 17 to 20
Installs on its own in any Odoo 17, 18, 19 or 20 with Fleet, Community or Enterprise. The interface is in English and Spanish.
Odoo.sh or on-premise
It is a third-party app with Python code, and Odoo Online does not install those. It runs on Odoo.sh or on a server of your own. If you are on Odoo Online today, we can walk you through what the move involves.
Paid app, OPL-1
Bought on the Odoo Apps Store under the Odoo Proprietary License (OPL-1). Help with installation, the first import and the settings is by email; if you get stuck, we look at it with you.

Frequently asked questions
Does it replace the software I download the tachograph with?
No. It reads the files you already download with your card reader, remote download service or company card, and links them to your drivers and vehicles in Odoo. With Geotab and its remote download, the files arrive on their own every hour.
Which files does it read?
Driver card downloads of generation 1 and 2, smart tachograph included, and vehicle unit downloads, as .ddd, .c1b, .v1b or .tgd. Upload several at once or email them to the tachograph address.
Does my data leave Odoo?
No. The app reads the files itself inside your Odoo and sends nothing to any service. With Geotab or Webfleet, it only reads from your account with that provider.
Has it been checked with real files?
Yes: day by day against an independent open source reader, on ten anonymised real cards (2,780 days).
Does it work on Odoo Online?
No. Odoo Online does not install third-party apps that contain Python code, and ours do. It works on Odoo.sh and on your own server (on-premise), Community or Enterprise, Odoo 17, 18, 19 and 20.
